Automobile Major VW plans to locate its plant in Chennai. Its a great news. This can result in more number of job creation. This also strengthens the fact that Chennai is the undisputed "Detroit of India"

TNPL plans to expand capacity — To invest Rs 595 cr
TAMIL Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL) plans to invest Rs 595 crore to modernise and expand its production facility. This will increase its capacity by about 15,000 tonnes a year from the present 2.3 lakh tonnes, according to sources in the know. (source HinduBusinessline)

Flextronics In TamilNadu
US Electronics Major Flextronics Plans to set up a manufacturing plant with an investment that could be around $100Millions spread over a five year period, though the first year investment would be around 20-30 Millions. Moreover Flextronics plans to move its BackOffice Processing work to chennai. This is the second International player after Nokia has decided to locate its Manufacturing Hub in sriperumbadur, SIPCOT Industrial Estate-chennai.
Now to destinationchennai... Flextronics did consider Karnataka and pondicherry before zeroing on Tamilnadu and this is what they have to say for their choice "Chennai is the best location offering maximum competitive advantage." Also the state has good talent pool along with wonderful infrastructure and more importantly a secure environment.
